Carp Weighing 20lbs and over are expensive, so it is important to choose a strain of fish which will continue to grow, get caught and fish hard.
Most of the English Carp to 50 and 60 lbs are Fishers Pond Fish.
At Fishers Pond the majority of Carp Produced are not graded as potential specimen fish. This does
not mean that they will not grow, of course they will, but more slowly and thus they are ideal for
Match and Leisure fishing.
Of all the fish we produce at Fishers Pond the F1 is the most satisfying to grow. Whilst they do not
grow anything like as fast or as big and Carp, they are hardier and more boisterous.
There is some evidence that they may carry resistance to KHV.
At Fishers Pond Bream are farmed in just the same way as Carp and Tench. After one summer a
Bream is only 3-4” long; not hardy enough to stock into a fishery.
Bream are readily taken by Cormorants so the bigger the fish you buy the better.
Crucian Carp are popular in leisure fisheries. When stocked with Carp they may cross bread to produce hybrids. At Fishers Pond we produce large numbers of 2”-4” true Crucians, but larger fish are popular.
Roach is often the first fish any angler catches.
At Fishers Pond we specialize in supplying fish of 8” to 1lb plus.
Tench is a favourite in mixed fisheries. It is a pretty but slow grower.
Most of our customers want to
buy Tench 8”-10” or bigger.
Ide is a new species for Fishers Pond Fishery.
We expect that 8” plus will be most popular.
